Differences Between Huggies vs Kirkland Diapers

Background

Both Huggies and Kirkland Signature diapers are made in the US, by Kimberly-Clark, so you’re practically getting the same diapers.

However, Kirkland diapers are a generation behind Huggies. This means it’s less superior when it comes to absorbency, softness, and other features.

Another interesting story – Costco also asked Procter & Gamble to produce diapers under the Kirkland brand. They refused and the rest is history.

Sizes

Kirkland signature diapers start at Size 1 (8-14 lbs) up to Size 6 (35+ lb).

Meanwhile, Huggies Little Snugglers has sizes ranging from Preemies, Newborn, Size 1 up to Size 6 (35+ lbs/ 16kg).

Huggies’ Preemie, Newborn, and Size 1 diaper are actually used in most hospitals!

Security and Fit

Huggies have double grip strips which secure the diaper in place and are also a great indicator if your baby needs to go up a diaper size.

It’s a great diaper for skinny babies and chunky little ones, although some parents say otherwise.

Kirkland diapers, on the other hand, have some complaints about their side tabs sticking too much to the diaper that it can rip the diaper when you’re pulling it away.

There’s also a mixed review on the fit, with some saying it fits their lanky, skinny babies or that it only fits large babies.

Price

Parents love Kirkland’s prices, as they’re lower than Huggies Little Snugglers.

Kirkland’s more affordable price is really helpful, especially for families with multiple young kids and a tight budget.

Some even said with Kirkland Signature diapers, you’re basically getting a Huggies diaper with the Luvs’ price!

Although lately (as of this publishing), there’s only like a dollar difference between these 2 brands.

Similarities: Kirkland Signature Diapers vs Huggies Diapers

Now let’s take a more detailed look at the similar features of the Kirkland Signature Diapers vs Huggies Little Snugglers Diapers.

Safety and Ingredients

Both diapers are hypoallergenic and are free from lotion, chlorine, latex, fragrance, paraben, and more.

Kirkland has at least some plant-based materials (at least 23% by weight).

Huggies Little Snugglers doesn’t have plant-based materials but they’re being used in a lot of hospitals, on preemies and newborns.

Absorbency

Huggies Little Snugglers has this back-poop catcher which is a popular feature amongst parents.

Most say it’s a great diaper for massive diaper blowouts, especially when they’re blowing up from behind!

Not only that, but Little Snugglers also has 12-hour protection and the GentleAbsorb® Liner feature (for Preemies up to Size 3 only). These are useful features to help prevent leakages and diaper poonamis.

Check out my Huggies Little Snugglers absorbency review below:

Kirkland Signature diapers also have great absorbency.

From what I’ve gathered online, it has a stretchy pocketed waistband which helps contain diaper messes and leaks.

And a lot of parents love it! Most of them are saying it’s actually better than the more popular diapers like Huggies and Pampers!

A few also mentioned that it’s very much like Huggies Special Delivery when it comes to softness and absorbency.

But of course, there’s no perfect diaper.

Some parents said the Kirkland was only great as a daytime diaper. Some even said Kirkland leaks very badly.

Some parents mentioned Huggies Little Snugglers leaking, especially in the leg area.

Both also had some complaints about diaper blowouts.

In general, though, both have much more positive than negative reviews. Which makes them really effective diapers at absorbing wetness and messes.

Comfort

Both diapers have generally a soft, breathable core with features that keeps little ones dry and comfortable.

Huggies has that added umbilical cord cutout feature in its Preemie diapers, which prevents irritation to the baby’s belly button.

Both though have some negative feedback, with some saying that it caused diaper rash and that it has an off-putting smell.

Most parents though find both diapers generally comfortable for their babies. They even mentioned that either one was the only diaper that worked for their babies, that didn’t cause any irritation or redness.

Wetness indicator

Both have a wetness indicator, making it convenient to know if your little one needs a diaper change.

Although I saw a feedback where one mom pointed out that Kirkland’s wetness indicator and patterns are both blue, which makes it hard to identify (especially in the middle of the night) if the diaper is really wet.

Kirkland Diapers vs Huggies Diapers: Final Thoughts

Personally, between the 2, I’ll choose Kirkland.

Not only because they’re slightly cheaper but there are TONS of reviews and feedback saying that they’re really like Huggies Little Snugglers.

Which you’re getting for a slightly lower price!

But again, it depends on your baby.

It may work on your little one or it may not.

You never really know until you’ve tried it on your kid.

So I suggest NOT stocking up yet until you’ve tested either diaper for a few days.

And to remember to get a diaper subscription to get a better deal on diapers.
