Lovevery General Info

What’s Lovevery?

Lovevery provides organic developmental toys for babies and toddlers that are designed by a team of child development professionals, ranging from child psychologists, baby brain development researchers, professors, and Montessori experts.

They are backed by research and carefully curated to support your child’s developmental needs by offering age-appropriate toys to support and improve their growing skills.

They offer individual toys, baby feeding, and sleeping items, an activity gym, and also a toy subscription model – the Lovevery Play Kit.

How does a Lovevery Play Kit subscription work?

You can choose to pay for just one play kit or you prepay for a few play kits.

Just provide your child’s name and date of birth on their website then they’ll recommend a play kit that’s suitable for your kid’s age.

Then you can choose whether to pay for just one play kit on a one-time basis OR prepay for 3 or 5 play kits.

Play kits for 0-12 months ship every 2 months.

For ages 13 months and older, they deliver every 3 months.

You can choose to skip or cancel your subscription in your Lovevery account by going to “Manage Subscriptions.”

Skip or cancel at least 4 business days before the next shipment to ensure a hassle-free cancellation and/or a refund process.

What comes in the Lovevery subscription box?

All Lovevery Play Kits includes the following:

  • 7 to 12 toys (depending on the age)
  • Play guide that provides info about your baby’s milestones and development and also includes explanations and the benefits of each toy in the Play Kit plus some play ideas and activities
  • Exclusive access to digital guides, video how-tos on ways to play, and child-caring related topics via their Lovevery app
  • Emails about your child’s development
  • Special access to perks and offers

How are the Lovevery Play Kits different from the Lovevery Play Gym?

The Lovevery Play Kit is for ages newborn to 3 years old.

You can get an ongoing set of toys delivered to you every 2 or 3 months, depending on the Play Kit.

The Lovevery Play Gym is a one-time paid set that your kid can enjoy from newborn up to 2 years or so.

is-lovevery-worth-it-2

Another difference is, the Play Gym comes in a set that includes a wooden tent or toy frame, a play mat, and some toys.

The Play Kit comes in a box and has individual toys that are easier to carry around in your diaper bag.

With that said, they complement each other in the sense that some toys in the first Play Kit (0 – 12 weeks) have a similar purpose to what is available in the Play Gym.

For example, both have the black and white card set (which is great for visual stimulation in babies), but they have different designs.

Both have the high contrast ball, but the Play Kit includes a silicone rattle that you can place the ball in.

How much does Lovevery cost?

It depends on the stage-based Play Kit.

The 0 to 12 months Play Kit is $80 each and is delivered every 2 months.

They have 6 stage-based Play Kits for 0 to 12 months.

The Play Kits for 1 to 3 years old is $120 each and is delivered every 3 months.

They have 4 stage-based Play Kits for each year – from 1 to 3 years.

Is Lovevery Montessori-based?

Yes and No.

Yes, in a sense. They follow the Montessori concept of having a simple, prepared yet sensory-rich environment that offers hands-on opportunities for the child to explore and learn independently.

But they also believe in imaginative play and in doing lots of baby talk, which are not emphasized in Montessori.

Where are Lovevery products made?

They are designed and curated in Boise, Idaho, and manufactured by Hape, a German-owned factory based in Ningbo, China.

Hape has its own toys and also produces toys for Ikea, Ravensberger, and Kathe Kruse.

Hape is a world leader in designing and manufacturing high-quality and eco-friendly toys and has won numerous awards for toy design, quality, and safety.

Lovevery products go through a final inspection at their US warehouse before shipping to customers.

Can you buy individual Lovevery play kits?

Yes, you can!

You can do a one-time payment OR you can do a subscription and cancel it at least 4 business days before the next shipment.

Can you buy Lovevery toys separately?

Yes, they have other individual toys but the toys in the Play Kit are not available separately.

Where can you buy Lovevery?

You can purchase it online on their website and it can also be added to your Babylist registry.

You can also get some Lovevery toys on Amazon, in Target and select US retailers.

Where can you buy used or second-hand Lovevery toys?

Benefits of Lovevery Play Kits

Backed by research

This is what’s highly appealing to me as a parent – you don’t need to do any research.

You don’t need to do anything!

Everything is provided in the Play Kit – the toys, how to play with it, how it helps with your child’s development, what other activities you can do with it, play ideas, etc.

Plus, they even give you access to video how-to’s, provide you info about your child’s development and milestones and they also include tips on feeding, sleeping, etc. via their subscriber-exclusive Lovevery app!

Goodness, I really, really, REALLY, wish I could go back in time so I can get this, instead of spending too many hours and money researching and buying toys that I thought my kid would benefit from but which ended up being untouched and given away. 🙁

Various age-appropriate toys

They have specially curated toys in their Play Kits, catering to your child’s developmental needs at a particular age.

Organic and heirloom-quality

They are made of high-quality, organic, and sustainably sourced materials that are safe even for newborns.

They use biobased materials, FSC-certified wood, Soy-based ink and are STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified, ensuring that their product is free from 350 regulated and unregulated harmful substances.

Lovevery is also a Certified B Corporation™, which means they’ve submitted and passed the requirements and have met the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

All of these efforts and research and certifications guarantee you a baby-safe Lovevery item that can stand the test of time, making it an heirloom quality toy.

Also, did you know that you can ask for a replacement if one of the Lovevery toys gets lost or gets destroyed by your dog? How awesome is that!

Plus, you can still sell them at a decent price because of how high-quality they are!

Encourages open-ended, clutter-free concept

Most of their toys follow the Montessori open-ended concept of toys that gives children more opportunities to be free, independent, and creative with how they play.

As a former toy-addicted mother, I also think subscribing to their Play Kits would have saved me more money from obsessively buying toys.

This would have meant less toy-clutter at home since there will only be a limited number of toys in each Play Kit.

Darn it. I was probably so busy dealing with my shit, I didn’t even consider a toy-subscription model.

User-friendly and clean website

Everything is laid out and explained clearly and thoroughly on their website and getting a subscription and canceling it is an easy and stress-free process.

Drawbacks of Lovevery Play Kits

They are not cheap

I wouldn’t say that they’re super expensive, given their quality plus all the perks and offers that come with it.

But they’re not cheap.

You can find more affordable toy alternatives on Amazon or Etsy.

However, what makes Lovevery worth it, is the amount of careful research and support and developmental guides that come with it.

So you’re basically saving yourself hours of doing your own research on what’s the best developmental toy for your child.

Plus you don’t need to buy your child any other toys for the next few years because everything is provided – saving you more money!

Can’t buy their Play Kit toys separately

If your kid is not playing with one of the toys in your Play Kit subscription, you can’t shop around and buy a separate, individual toy from other Play Kits.

The toys in each Play Kit are only available when you subscribe to it.

This can be a bit of a bummer, especially if your kid is not really interested in a particular toy.

But I think it just takes time for some children to warm up to a toy.

Just check their guides and play ideas on how to put a new spin to it.

Final Thoughts on Lovevery

As much as I’m raving about Lovevery and all its wonderful toys and purposes, it’s not a baby essential.

It’s quite helpful though in helping your baby reach their milestones or at the very least, distract them enough so you can do some work or chores. But again, it’s not a newborn essential.

So don’t feel too bad if it’s not within your budget or you feel doubtful about their concept and toys.

But if you’re still on the fence if Lovevery is really worth it, think of it this way – assuming you subscribe to their first Play Kit onwards, you’ll be spending $40 a month.

Then if you get their succeeding Play Kits from 1 to 3 years, you’ll still be spending $40 every month.

If you look at the bigger picture, you’ll only be paying $40 a month for toys and educational activities for your baby.

So for $40 a month, you’ll be getting high quality, organic, developmental toys that encourage a clutter-free environment, that are backed by research, that includes a play guide, video guides, plus info on your child’s development and milestones, baby care tips and access to special perks and more!

So is a baby gym worth it? Is Lovevery worth it? Hell yeah, so worth it!
