Pampers Swaddlers vs Huggies Little Snugglers: Similarities

Reputable Brand

The Pampers brand has been around a bit longer (1961) than Huggies Snugglers (1968).

But both the Pampers Swaddlers vs Huggies Little Snugglers are very reliable and reputable diapers that are even used in hospitals and recommended by nurses and doctors.

Safety

Both these Huggies vs Pampers diapers are hypoallergenic diapers and are latex and paraben-free, making them safe and gentle to use even on the most delicate skin.

Huggies Little Snugglers has actually a Preemie diaper, for babies weighing less than 2lbs and for those that weigh less than 4lbs.

It’s been tested by safety professionals, dermatologists, and pediatricians, ensuring its safety and suitability for preemies.

Comfort

Parents are raving about how soft and cotton-like the Pampers Swaddlers are.

It’s slightly scented though and it tends to get a little stronger when the diaper gets wet, according to some parents.

Both the Little Snugglers vs Swaddlers diapers have a feature that absorbs moisture from your baby’s skin, keeping it dry, and avoiding diaper rash and irritation.

Huggies Little Snugglers has an inner liner that’s soft and breathable, like Pampers.

But lately, it’s been receiving some complaints about having a chemical smell and even causing diaper rashes.

When I tested both diapers though, Huggies feels so much softer and a slightly thicker than Pampers.

Price

Both the Pampers Swaddlers vs Huggies Little Snugglers are fairly priced diapers and you can save on both by getting the subscription.

Extra

Huggies Little Snugglers vs Pampers Swaddlers diapers have both a special cutout space for your newborn’s umbilical cord.

Little Snugglers vs Swaddlers: Differences

Absorbency

Pampers Swaddlers has 12-hour wetness protection that promises to keep your baby’s skin dry and healthy, even when used for longer hours.

It has a feature that keeps away the wetness from your baby’s skin. That extra-absorbent channel evenly distributes the wetness throughout the diaper, preventing build ups which can cause leaks.

Some parents have noticed though that its absorbency feature only tends to work on the front of the diaper, which can lead to back blowouts.

Others have mentioned that it doesn’t really work for overnight use.

Other parents also complained about how Pampers Swaddlers tend to snag when their littles are getting more active.

Huggies Little Snugglers has also a 12-hour Leak Lock System feature like Pampers, which absorbs moisture from your little one’s skin.

That keeps your baby dry and comfy and also helps in preventing leakages.

This feature doesn’t also work for overnight use but it can work for a maximum of 6 hours, according to some parents.

Here’s the part which parents are raving about – the pocketed waistband.

That apparently acts as a poop pocket as it catches and keeps the poop in the diaper, preventing blowouts and containing the mess.

However, some parents have noticed that it doesn’t seem to work well with pee, and leaks mostly happen because of the amount of pee the diaper holds.

Here’s what I’ve noticed about the absorbency of both diapers:

  • Both can absorb 50ml liquid pretty quickly, but Pampers can do it faster
  • Huggies can absorb a LOT of liquid (250ml!) quicker than Pampers

Security and Fit

Pampers Swaddlers’ velcro-like fasteners are very reliable and will give you enough room to adjust the diapers appropriately.

Its leg openings are comfortable but not as stretchy, as some parents noticed that it doesn’t seem to fit well with their chubby babies with very thick thighs. It lacks the flexibility that active or older babies need when moving about.

Some have also complained about the back part not being high and long enough to offer adequate protection, which causes blowouts.

They do look bigger and wider though than Huggies Little Snugglers. But from what I’ve seen, they have more or less the same sized absorbent core. But Pampers does look a bit bigger than Huggies.

Pampers Swaddlers doesn’t also have an elastic band, which can help in containing the mess.

Huggies Little Snugglers tabs are also pretty sticky. It’s also extra secure as it has the Double Grip Strips, the purple velcro at the side which keeps the tabs in place, even if your little ones are crawling, moving, or walking.

These purple strips also let parents know when to go up a size.

Huggies has also a stretchier, more elastic, and flexible leg opening but some parents have noticed that it doesn’t seem to fit skinny babies that well. Other parents said it suits their skinny, tall babies perfectly!

Sizes

Pampers Swaddlers sizes start at Newborn – Size 0 (less than 10 lbs) up to Size 7 (41+ lb). But they also have Preemie sizes at -3, -2, and -1.

Huggies Little Snugglers are available in size Preemie (up to 6 lb.), size Newborn, and up to size 6 (35+ lb.).

Design

Pampers Swaddlers has some new designs, apparently, and have added woodland creatures and loving phrases.

It’s still thin though and very compact, allowing you to carry more in your diaper bag.

Some parents have complained though that it doesn’t seem to lay flat so they always need to keep it open when changing their baby.

Huggies Little Snugglers diapers feature popular characters such as Winnie the Pooh.

Wetness indicator

Both diapers have a wetness indicator although some parents have noticed that Pampers’ is a little sensitive. Even if the diaper is only slightly wet, it will immediately change the color.

This might make you change the diapers quite often, which would mean buying and spending too much on diapers.

Huggies Little Snugglers vs Pampers Swaddlers: Which One Is Better?

If you consider the most recent reviews, Pampers Swaddlers seems to trump Huggies Little Snugglers.

The latter has been getting some complaints about diaper rashes and chemical smells lately. But for most parents, it’s still gentle on their baby’s skin and absorbent enough to contain their little ones’ messes.

Plus they still have that “poop catcher” that most parents love!

Pampers Swaddlers is equally competent too in keeping the mess contained and preventing leakages and blowouts.

Based on the absorbency test that I’ve done though, Pampers seems to absorb small amounts of liquid more quickly than Huggies, but not when it’s a large amount, say 250 ml.

Huggies felt dry after 30 minutes or so of absorbing 250 ml liquid. There was a little bit of leaked but maybe I didn’t spread the liquid all over the diaper, and it concentrated on one area, leading to the leak.

If I were to make a conclusion based on that absorbency test that I’ve done, I would say that Pampers can absorb a regular amount of pee quickly. But if you have an extraordinary baby that’s a heavy wetter, Huggies can help to absorb all their pee faster than Pampers.

But again, I’m just basing this on that one absorbency test that.

Anyway, I would advice to just buy one pack of each and test them, before buying in bulk, so you can see for yourself who’s the clear winner between these battle of the diapers – Huggies Little Snugglers vs Pampers Swaddlers.
