Honest Diapers vs Earth and Eden: Differences

Let’s dive in a little deeper about the differences between Honest Diapers vs Earth and Eden.

Background and Safety

Honest started in 2011, with Jessica Alba as one of its co-founders. It is now considered one of the most popular eco-friendly companies, offering various products for families.

Their manufacturing facilities carry a lot of safety certifications. And they only use sustainable materials – such as a 100% plant-based diaper back sheet, and diaper boxes made from 100% recyclable packaging.

Earth and Eden on other hand, was created by First Quality, a 30-year-old US-based company. The said company also houses other brands such as Cuties diapers and other products.

They have some impressive certifications such as the Skin Health Alliance and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, making them truly a responsibly made, eco-friendly brand.

Subscription

Both brands offer a subscription service on their website.

Honest subscription though is more manageable and user-friendly. Plus they offer discounts and freebies for first-time subscribers!

First-time Honest subscribers can get a 15% off on additional selected items and a free gift on a certain number of shipments.

Which is different for Earth & Eden.

I didn’t see any freebies when you try to subscribe or buy a pack on their website.

I also saw a lot of complaints about Earth & Eden’s subscription process. And how it was so hard to contact customer service to have their subscription details changed or canceled.

Design

Hands down, Honest wins this category.

Earth & Eden are just white diapers while Honest offers various colors and prints and cute patterns.

Price

Honest is more expensive than Earth & Eden diapers.

Similarities of Honest vs Earth and Eden Diapers

Now let’s take a more detailed look at the similar features of the Honest vs Earth and Eden Diapers.

Sizes

Honest offers sizes starting at:

  • Newborn – <10 lbs (with belly button cutout)
  • Size 1 – 8 to 14 lbs
  • Size 2 – 12 t0 18 lbs
  • Size 3 – 16 to 28 lbs
  • Size 4 – 22 to 37 lbs
  • Size 5 – 27+ lbs
  • Size 6 – 35+ lbs
  • Size 7 – 41+ lbs

While Earth & Eden’s diaper sizes are also the same, except that their newborn diaper doesn’t have any belly button cutout.

Comfort

Both Earth & Eden and Honest diapers are gentle and hypoallergenic. And ideally, it shouldn’t be causing any diaper rashes or any form of irritation to your baby.

And I do see a lot of parents raving about either diaper.

Saying that they were the only ones (Honest or Earth and Eden) that worked on their baby, that didn’t cause any redness or irritation to their skin.

But both diapers are still getting some complaints about causing diaper rashes.

I even read a negative review about both diapers having some weird chemical smell.

Ingredients

Honest diapers are made with totally chlorine-free processing, with a 100% plant-based backsheet, and have non-toxic, safe ingredients.

Here’s a list of their diaper ingredients:

  • Absorbent Bio-Core [Totally Chlorine-Free (TCF) Wood Pulp From Sustainably Managed Forests
  • Sodium Polyacrylate Containing Renewable Materials & Odor Inhibitors Including Citrus Extract & Liquid Chlorophyll]
  • Outer Layer(Plant-Based PLA)
  • Inner Layer (Polyethylene & Polypropylene)
  • Leg/Waist System (Polymer Spandex & Polypropylene)
  • Polyolefin Adhesives in the Seams & Joints
  • Super-Cute Design on Backsheet (Inks)
  • It’s free from Chlorine Processing, Phthalates, Parabens, Lotions, Latex, TBT, DBT, MBT, or Artificial Fragrance.

Earth & Eden is too, made from hypoallergenic, non-toxic ingredients.

They also have the Skin Health Alliance, certifying that they’re dermatologically tested and have been proven to be safe to be used on the gentlest of skin.

Their diapers contain the following ingredients/ materials:

  • SFI Sustainably-sourced fluff (elemental chlorine free)
  • Non-toxic superabsorbent polymer (sodium polyacrylate)
  • Cotton-enhanced™ nonwoven dryness layer
  • Polypropylene nonwoven fabrics
  • Non-rubber elastic elastics (stretch sides, waist, legs)
  • Fastening system, breathable moisture barrier, safe adhesives, inks (made without lead & heavy metals)

Their diapers are also free from lotions, latex, fragrance, and chlorine bleaching.

Absorbency

Honest has a lot of absorbency features, which at least for me, gives the impression that they’re aiming for their diapers to not only be non-toxic but absorbent as well.

Because let’s face it, a lot of eco-friendly diapers have sucky absorption.

Honest is not the best out there when it comes to stopping diaper leaks and avoiding diaper blowouts, especially at night.

But at least they’re trying, with their Double Poo pocket, True Absorb Technology, and Quick Absorb Channel.

But I still see a lot of positive reviews about how reliable they are in stopping leakages and messes.

Earth & Eden diapers don’t have a lot of absorbency features like Honest.

Or I guess, that’s not really a marketing priority for them – to tout their diaper as not only being non-toxic but super absorbent.

They do claim to have up to 12 hours of superior leakage protection, which I’ve seen some parents agree on!

I’ve seen a lot of reviews about how leak-proof and awesome their diapers are in holding pee and poop.

I even read one mom sharing a poop-filled Earth & Eden diaper, saying that it weighed 2 lbs with all the messes combined and there were no leaks or blowouts – it held up beautifully!

But of course, it’s not the end all be all of the diapers. I’ve seen some complaints from parents that it leaked constantly and you’re guaranteed of diaper blowouts when you use it.

Security and Fit

I’ve seen some feedback from parents about both diapers running small and thin, which can be an ideal diaper for a skinny baby.

But not so much for a chunky baby.

Wetness Indicator

Both Honest and Earth and Eden diapers have a wetness indicator, making it easy to know if your baby needs a diaper change.

Earth and Eden Vs Honest Diapers: Final Thoughts

Based on my research on various websites, platforms, and parenting groups, Honest seems to be the clear winner in this comparison review.

But just because I don’t see a lot of people recommending Earth and Eden.

There were only a few mentions, but there was a lot of positive feedback about the said diaper.

Earth and Edens also had some stocking issues previously so that also probably contributed to their lack of popularity amongst parents.

They are cheaper though than Honest, so I’d recommend trying them out first to see if it works better for your baby. If it’s causing you a lot of issues after a few days of using, then go for Honest.

I hope this Earth and Eden vs Honest Diapers comparison review has been helpful for you.
