How To Select The Best Crib with Storage Drawers
It’s not that much different from selecting a regular crib but just in case, here’s a simple guide on choosing the best crib with drawers and storage.
- Safety
Always consider the safety of a crib.
Aside from it being tested for its safety and durability, and being certified by ASTM, CPSC, and JPMA, an ideal crib would also carry the Greenguard Gold certification, ensuring its non-toxic materials on your baby.
Hopefully, the one you’ll pick won’t always get your little ones’ legs stuck between the railings, but if ever that happens, here are possible solutions to keep your baby’s legs from getting stuck in the crib.
- Easy to Assemble
Putting it together shouldn’t take all your energy, time, and patience for a day.
Especially if the crib comes with drawers and storage!
If you’re already aware that you’re not good at assembling things, then have someone assemble them for you.
- Enough Storage
Do you want to keep big items like blankets or do you just want a space to easily access your baby’s diapers and wet wipes?
Think about the things you want to keep in it then look for the right crib with the storage size you have in mind.
Try to manage as well your expectations about the storage and the drawers.
Some are not as high-quality as one you’d expect in a regular dresser or anything drawer-centric.
But they’re good enough to hold your baby’s essentials.
- Crib Height
Consider as well how low or tall the crib is.
Will it be easy to bend down to pick up or lower your baby?
Would you prefer one that has a tall back frame, so you can use it to prevent your kid from climbing out of their crib?
- Adjustable Mattress Height
Almost all cribs come with an adjustable mattress height level but some have only 2 levels, while some have 4.
So check that as well, as that would either make it easy or hard for you to reach for your baby.
And it would make a huge difference in keeping an active baby safe in their crib.
- Convertible
Convertible cribs are a dime a dozen but consider their type of configuration and what type would you need in the future.
Some can only be converted into a toddler bed and a daybed, while others can even be transformed into a full-sized bed that even a teenager can use!
While the latter seems more practical, a lot of parents opt for a simpler one, the 3-in-1 convertible bed
It’s cheaper plus it allows for more flexibility when it comes to planning your kid’s room.
- Design
If you’re very particular about the interiors of your baby’s nursery room then prioritize the color and style of the crib!
It’s the focal point of the room so it makes sense to give importance to it. Especially if you’re planning to have a nursery theme, complete with matching furniture.

Helpful Tips on Cribs with Drawer for Storage
- Make use of baby showers
You can ask for a group to chip in for an expensive baby item, such as a crib, for your baby shower.
It’s convenient and as long as you’re close to that group, it would be okay to ask for a crib as a gift.
Just don’t demand it and don’t make them feel bad if they didn’t decide to get a crib for you.
- Get a second hand
I’ve given away my crib to my husband’s cousin and she has used it for her 2 babies!
So you don’t really need to buy a new one.
Just make sure to personally check first the durability and safety of the crib before purchasing it.
You can look for second-hand cribs on Goodbuy Gear, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, Ebay, and even thrift stores.
Remember to message the buyer to arrange a personal meetup first, so you can see how the crib holds up – if it’s not that dirty, no splinters or anything that can hurt your baby and that it’s still in really good shape.
Check also if all the parts are present if there’s a conversion kit available or whatnot.
- Check the manufacturing date
Take note of the manufacturing date of the second-hand crib you’re buying.
This is important to ensure that the one you’re getting has been tested and is compliant with the CPSC safety standards.
You can ask the owner if they still have the original instruction guide so you can check the manufacturing date.
Or you can also see the tracking label underneath or on the crib’s side. If the manufacturing date is after June 28, 2011, then that means it’s CPSC compliant.
- Check the return/ refund policy
Always check the brand’s return and refund policy before buying expensive furniture, such as a crib.
Get a confirmation from the store, from the retailer, and record that, just in case you need to return or ask for a refund.
- Unbox a new crib asap
There’s always the risk of having delivery issues when buying items online. Most especially high-ticket items such as a crib.
A lot of parents have complained about their cribs being damaged and broken, missing parts and pieces, etc. Some even had a late delivery, and some didn’t even receive their crib at all!
So if you get yours, unbox it right away.
Check it immediately for any damage, missing pieces, and screws.
It’s also ideal to assemble the crib immediately so you’ll know if it’s in a good condition.
- Don’t throw the crib’s box
Just in case something is wrong with the crib! Make sure that everything is a-okay before throwing it out.

Takeaway on the Best Cribs with Storage and Drawers
If money is tight, I’d highly recommend a second-hand crib. You can either go to the usual second-hand marketplaces OR, ask friends and family if they have a used crib that they don’t use anymore.
Going for a brand new and premium crib with storage and drawers is of course, ideal to have, as you can have it exchanged if something is wrong with it.
