The Delta Children Bentley S Series 4-in-1 Convertible Baby Crib for its popularity, 3 mattress height level and tall backboard.

The Evolur Belmar Curve 5-in-1 Convertible Crib for its tall frame, 3 mattress height level, and built-to-last quality.

The Dream On Me Carson Classic 3-in-1 Convertible Crib for its 4 adjustable mattress height level and teething rail.

Do They Make Extra Tall Cribs?

Yes, they make extra tall cribs in the sense that they have higher height frames and an adjustable mattress height level.

The latter feature lets tall parents reach their kids easily, making them bend less.

How Tall Is A Standard Crib?

A crib’s standard interior dimension, according to the CPSC, has a width of 28 inches and height of 52 inches, with a plus or minus factor of ⅝ inches.

Can I Make the Crib Taller?

Yes, there are ways to make the crib taller but it’s not recommended to do so.

It’s not safe and risky to alter and modify your baby’s crib that has already been tested and approved according to federal regulatory standards.

Certain ways to make a crib taller will compromise the quality of the crib and it could endanger your child.

Best Cribs for Tall Parents

Delta Children Bentley S Series 4-in-1 Convertible Baby Crib

Dimensions: 34.25” L x 54.25” W x 42.25” H

This JPMA-certified crib comes with 3 mattress-level positions to accommodate your growing child.

The lowest mattress level height starts from 20.5″ and then at 16.75″. The highest level is at 13″. (Measurement starts from the top of a 6-inch thick mattress).

tall cribs for tall parents

This crib is meant for tall parents. If you’re shorter than 5’10”, you might have a hard time bending over to lay down your kid in it, with the crib’s tall frame.

It also has a tall backboard, which can be used as a deterrent to growing little escape artists, trying to climb out of their crib.

You basically just turn it around so the taller part of the crib faces out, making it hard for your daredevil toddler to climb it!

It’s very sturdy and well built, as mentioned by a few parents who have used their Delta crib for the 2nd time for their coming baby.

There were some complaints though about how it had an overpowering chemical smell and about how confusing it was to put together.

But overall, most parents are happy with it as this can also be converted into a toddler bed, daybed, and full-size bed with headboard & footboard, using a conversion kit (purchased separately).

It’s also a non-toxic crib, made of sustainable New Zealand pine wood and TSCA-compliant engineered wood.

Evolur Belmar Curve 5-in-1 Convertible Crib

Dimensions: 58.75″ L x 31.25″ W x 51.25″ H

Another tall crib for tall parents, the Evolur crib has also 3 mattress height settings, to suit a growing baby.

Unfortunately, though, I can’t find any info on the specific height mattress level on this crib.

Still, it’s a very beautifully crafted non-toxic crib that carries a JPMA and Greenguard Gold certification.

It has a rustic design and coastal elements to it so if you’re gunning for a nautical-themed nursery, this is the perfect crib for you!

A lot of parents have mentioned how easy-to-assemble and sturdy this crib is.

It’s built to last, which makes it a practical choice if you’re planning to have more kids.

It has some mixed reviews though about its delivery and customer service.

But for the most part, it’s an elegant, durable piece of furniture that’s worth your money.

You can also turn around the crib and use its taller frame as a barrier to your active, escapist child!

It can also be converted into a toddler bed, a day bed, and a full-size bed to accommodate your growing child (conversion rails sold separately).

Dream On Me Carson Classic 3-in-1 Convertible Crib

Dimensions: 54L x 31W x 40H inches

This simple yet stunning crib is made of renewable, sustainable & durable New Zealand pinewood and also carries a JPMA and Greenguard Gold certification.

It comes with 4 mattress height positions, which gives you more options to adjust it to the level you want. So you can easily bend to take or lay down your baby.

There’s no official info about its mattress level height but one parent measured it and shared that “the mattress support sits at approximately 14″, 19″ or 24″ from the ground with wheels.”

It’s quite a tall crib and parents shorter than 5’6″ said they had a hard time getting their kids in and out of this crib. So take note of that!

A few parents have also advised assembling the crib in the room where you want to place it, as some found out the hard way that it’s hard to fit in their doorway.

It also comes with a teething rail, and dual hooded, safety locking wheels, making it easy to wheel it from one room to another.

Although most parents noticed that the wheels are of low quality.

Some don’t bother with it as they don’t move the crib anyway, while others have removed the wheels entirely from the crib.

Child Craft Calder 4-in-1 Convertible Baby Crib

Dimensions: 55.5″L x 30.2″ W x 44.7″ H

It’s not as popular as the other cribs but the Child Craft’s height is suitable enough for towering parents looking for a tall crib.

It has 3 adjustable mattress levels to suit a growing child.

Plus it’s made of strong, durable pine wood with a safe, non-toxic finish, ensuring its high quality.

The Calder crib can also transform into a daybed, toddler bed, and full-size bed, using a conversion kit and bed rails (sold separately).

It also has a tall headboard which, if turned away from the wall, can be used to prevent your hyperactive toddlers from climbing and falling off the crib.

Assembly is a breeze according to some parents.

Although some had complained about it having dents and some pieces broken, mainly because of delivery issues.

Nevertheless, it’s a well-built, heavy-duty crib that’s built to last.

Dream On Me Synergy 5-In-1 Convertible Crib

Dimensions: 53.0″ L x 29.0″ W x 39.0″ H

This crib is the shortest one on this list but it doesn’t fall “short” on its features, especially for tall parents.

It has 3 mattress height settings, letting you adjust it to a suitable point to accommodate your growing kid and for the good of your back. (and/or C-section, whatever applies)

I can’t find any specific numbers and details on its mattress height settings but some parents said they find this too tall and big for their taste.

One mom who’s 5’8″ said she had it already on the highest mattress setting level but she still had a hard time gently laying her baby in it!

That’s how tall the crib is!

The Dream on Me Synergy crib can also grow with your kid, as it can be easily converted into a toddler bed, day bed and even a full-size bed.

Just take note that the toddler guardrail, stabilizilizers, and full-size rail are all sold separately.

It’s also made of solid reclaimed New Zealand Pine wood, a strong and durable material that’s built to last.

Some parents mentioned that it was confusing to put together while some parents say otherwise.

It’s available in various colors, providing you with more design options to suit your dream nursery room.

This is also a JPMA-certified crib and has met all safety standards set by the CPSC & ASTM.

Buying Guide for the Best Tall Cribs

Focus on the first 4 features below if you’re looking for the best cribs for your tall frame:

  • Crib Height

It goes without saying that a tall crib would suit a tall parent.

So apart from the other dimensions, look for a crib that’s at least 39 inches high or taller.

  • Adjustable Mattress Settings

It would be ideal to have a crib with  4 mattress height levels, giving you more options to raise the mattress so you can easily reach for your child.

But if not, 3 adjustable mattress positions are fine to have.

  • Safe

Popular cribs nowadays carry non-toxic certifications and have also met federal safety standards.

Check out also personally how sturdy the crib is. Visit the store, give it a little shake, and move it a bit as if a very hyper toddler is inside, kickin it.

Be wary also of any nails, splinters, or anything sharp that’s sticking inside or outside the crib.

  • Convertible

A crib that can be converted into a toddler bed, or any bed that your growing child can use is a must to have, giving you your money’s worth.

  • Extra Features

It’s not a need, but it would be useful to have some extra crib features, such as a storage drawer, wheels for mobility, a detachable diaper changing pad, etc.

  • Mattress

Getting a crib that already includes a mattress is very convenient to have, so you don’t need to do another research and buy one separately.

FAQ on Best Cribs for Tall Parents

Do cribs have height and weight limits?

Yes, cribs have height and weight limits. Depending on the brand and model, weight limits are usually between 35 and 50 pounds. While height limits are at 35 in or 89 cm.

What height is too big for a crib?

Toddlers who are almost 35 in or 89 cm tall are not safe to stay in their crib anymore as they can quickly learn how to climb out of it.
Federal crib regulations require caretakers to stop using a crib before a child reaches that height.
Kids who are almost 35 in or 89 cm (usually aged between 2 to 3 years old) should be moved into a toddler bed.

How do I know if my baby is too tall for a crib?

If your baby is already reaching the 35in height limit, then that’s already a big sign that they’re too tall for a crib.
Another sign to look out for is when your child can put their legs over the top rail and worse, is able to pull themselves over the crib railings.

Alternatives for Tall Cribs

Bassinets or co-sleepers are a great crib alternative.

Especially if you’re too tall, have back pains, or just had a C-sect operation.

There are some like the Halo, which comes with an adjustable height, that can fit and even slide over beds that are 23.5” to 30” high.

So you can put your baby next to you, safe in their own space, and scoop them and place them back, without having to bend down!

Helpful Tips on Baby Furniture for Tall Parents

  • Test out physically then buy online

It’s highly recommended to personally check out the crib model you’re eyeing – to see it, touch it and test it.

If it has wheels, try moving it around. Shake and hit it gently to see how sturdy it is. Check out how smooth its interior and exteriors are.

Then if everything seems alright with you, check its price online first.

You might find better deals, especially during Labor Day Sale or Black Fridays.

It’s definitely helpful to have a baby camera setup in your baby’s room. So you can still check on them even if you have to do chores outside.

Plus you’ll be able to see and stop them from climbing out of their crib!

  • Get creative with taller babies

If you also have a tall kid and you’re worried about them attempting to climb out of their crib, try the following:

  • Sleep sacks – Its design can prevent your baby from trying to climb over the crib railings.
  • Anti-climbing pajamas – Its sewn-in strap feature prevents little legs from being lifted over the crib.
  • Crib headboard and corner – If your crib has a tall headboard or frame, turn that around away from the wall and make it face out. Then if possible, place the crib in a corner. So now you 2 crib sides by the wall and the taller part of the crib in front, preventing your baby from climbing.  Unless of course, they try the one last unconstrained crib rail frame. In which case, try the next solution:
  • Remove the mattress support – You need some tools though to remove the mattress platform but once that’s done, you can place the mattress right on the floor. And basically turn the crib into a baby jail!

Takeaway on the Best Cribs for Tall Parents
