That’s right! You can use it without the legs and use it right on the floor! Even better when you convert it into a toddler bed!

I’ve been meaning to add the Gelato to my Best Cribs for Short Moms article actually, I just haven’t found the time yet.

So there you go, a super helpful feature if you’re looking for really low-profile cribs.

Convertibility

The Gelato can turn from crib to toddler bed (with an included toddler bed conversion kit), daybed, to a full-sized bed (Conversion kit is sold separately).

Just remember that these cribs sit pretty low so if you’re tall and you’re looking for a tall crib, these cribs aren’t for you.

  • Assemble asap

If it’s possible, unbox and assemble your crib asap, so you can immediately check for damages, missing pieces, and tools.

  • Get a used crib

If the new Babyletto cribs are a little out of budget, get a second-hand one then!

A lot of parents are opting for this actually, and as long as it’s still durable, safe, and ideally, still has its conversion kit, you’re good with a second-hand Babyletto.

Check for second-hand cribs on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, eBay, Goodbuy Gear, and even thrift stores.

  • Check the manufacturing date

If you’re getting a used crib, remember to check its manufacturing date that’s under or on the crib’s side.

Those that are made after June 28, 2011, are considered safe and CPSC-compliant.

Babyletto Gelato vs Hudson: Takeaway

It’s as stylish as the Hudson, it also has 4 mattress height levels. And is cheaper and it even comes with a removable leg, which shorter parents can take advantage of.
