It’s quite overwhelming to choose baby carriers lately. There’s just so many brands available now and comparing their features can be a little bit confusing.

So if you’re here to see which one between the Baby Bjorn Vs Ergobaby baby carrier is better when it comes to that feature, then you’re in the right place. (By the way, I also have a comparison review on the Omni vs 360, if you’re interested.)

In this article, I’ve thoroughly researched their features, listing down their differences and similarities, as well as their pros and cons.

I’ve also added some instructional videos on how to use them, so you can really gauge which carrier is more convenient to use.

Below is a more detailed information on the differences and differences between the Ergo Baby vs Baby Bjorn.

Differences: Ergobaby Carrier vs Baby Bjorn Carrier One

Weight/ Age

The Ergobaby is suitable for babies 4 months to 48 months (12 to 45 pounds), so that means you can use it longer, until toddlerhood!

The Baby Bjorn however, is used from newborns up to 3 years of age (8 lbs to 33 lbs), with no need for an infant insert.

Infant Insert

There’s no need for an infant insert for the Baby Bjorn if you want to carry your newborn.

However, for the Ergo 360, you would need an infant insert to carry a newborn or a baby weighing from 7 lbs to 12 lbs.

Carrying Positions

The Baby Bjorn has 4 positions – newborn, facing in, facing out and back carry.

The Ergo 360 has also 4 but some of it are different positions – facing in, facing out, back and hip carry.

Lumbar Support

The Ergo 360 has a built-in lumbar support which is great for people who are prone to back and shoulder pains.

The Baby Bjorn One Air doesn’t have any lumbar support.

So that would mean most of the weight of your baby would go to your shoulder and back. Which can be painful, especially when wearing them for long periods of time.

Some parents though have no complaints over it and even find Baby Bjorn a more comfortable baby carrier.

Breastfeeding-friendly

You can nurse using the Ergobaby 360 baby carrier.

Just adjust and lower down the shoulder straps, to make space and make it comfortable for breastfeeding.

Nursing in a Babybjörn One Air might be a bit tricky though and they don’t really have that feature but some parents have managed to do it.

But they did say it was a bit harder, as compared to using an Ergo.

Privacy Hood

Ergo 360 comes with a built-in privacy hood that can be used for sun protection, breastfeeding, or for sleeping.

The Babybjörn One Air has no hood but I guess you can use the front flap as some sort of protection or sun cover.

Warranty

The Ergo has an awesome ErgoPromise Lifetime Guarantee. It covers all baby carriers (including hip seats and wraps) manufactured in 2017 and after, and provides a limited warranty against manufacturing defects* in materials and workmanship for the lifetime* of the product.

The Baby Bjorn on the other hand, is kinda weird. I can’t seem to find specifically, its warranty online.

Seriously, just search for their warranty statement here and let me know if you find anything clear about how long is its warranty.

Ergo Baby Carrier vs Baby Bjorn: Similarities

Fit For All

Both the Ergo baby carrier vs Baby Bjorn can be adjusted to fit all kinds of body types, from petite moms and plus-size moms to tall and broad-shouldered dads.

Just make sure to adjust the straps accordingly to make both baby carriers a comfortable fit.

Comfort

Both the Ergo Baby vs Baby Bjorn breathable mesh baby carriers, which is great for wearing during the warm weather or when going out for hikes, or any other summer adventures.

The Baby Bjorn has an airy 3D mesh material that is soft and flexible. You don’t even need to wash it when you get it out of the box! (Although, it’s probably better if you do).

The material is pleasant and comfortable enough for your baby’s gentle skin and flexible enough that it retains its shape, wash after wash.

The Ergobaby has also a soft and durable mesh design that’s lightweight and breathable for your baby. It’s sturdy too, so you don’t need to worry about any snagging or ripping.

It can work great for winter too! Just make sure that your baby is all bundled up.

Hip-Friendly

Both the Ergo baby carrier vs Baby Bjorn are also considered as “hip-friendly” baby carriers, as certified by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute.

This means that both the Bab Bjorn and Ergo gives the correct support to your baby’s hips and encourages good hip joint development, which is especially important during the first months of life.

Ease of Use

All baby carriers have a learning curve so how easy is it to use is really subjective. So using either the Ergo Baby vs Baby Bjorn will take some time or a little bit of it, depending on the user.

For the Ergobaby 360, once you’ve gotten used to it, it’s relatively easy to put it on and off, with your baby, by yourself.

I might be biased because I used to have an Ergo carrier (Omni not 360) but I did find it pretty easy to use, without any help.

Putting in newborns though, with the infant insert might be a bit tricky.

Especially if you lost your infant insert and you need an alternative to it, like a blanket or towel.

There are also some mixed reviews about its buckles. Some find it hard to buckle it at the back on their own and need some help, while others have an easier time doing it.

Some find Ergo more comfortable to use than the Baby Bjorn, especially when their baby gets bigger/ heavier.

Which is understandable, considering that Ergo can be used until your kid is 45 lbs while the Bjorn is only until 33 lbs.

Check out the video on the Ergo’s page on how to use it with the infant insert:

You can see how big the infant insert so that would be a little bit tricky to put on, especially for new parents.

(By the way, if you want to watch the videos really quickly, you can just adjust the playback speed by clicking on the settings or gear icon on the video.

Here’s some neat tricks on the Ergo 360, just in case you missed them from the instruction manual or videos:

This is how you switch from facing in to facing out position

This is the latest video that I can find, that shows how to switch from facing in and facing out position

Now on to Baby Bjorn.

The Baby Bjorn has mixed reviews on its ease of use as well.

Some find it comfortable and they love how quick and quick and convenient it is to get a baby in and out of it.

Check out how to use the Baby Bjorn on this video:

Others find it hard to work and adjust the buckles.

You can skip the commentary below but I just need to share this.

For both brands, I just find it a little bit frustrating to look for an UPDATED video on their website or on their youtube channel that tells me exactly how to use their baby carrier.

Most of the videos online are 3 years old or older. I know that those videos are still useful and the tips there are still applicable but still, it would have been nice it they can update the videos. Especially when there’s an updated version of their baby carriers.

But anyway, at least there’s still some other videos available for that.

But I kinda really wish the Ergo and Baby Bjorn team will update their instruction videos, just to make things easier and clearer for the consumer.

Not everything is clearly written in instruction manuals. And for most people, it’s much better to understand how to use a product and such, when watching it from a video.

K, rant over.

Seat Adjustment

Both the Baby Bjorn vs Ergobaby carriers have an adjustable seat to accommodate your growing baby but they differ in how to adjust it.

The Baby Bjorn comes with 2 height setting zippers on the inside of the carrier.

You can use the newborn setting until your child is about 4 months old then lower the zipper to the baby/toddler position for children ages 4-36 months (about 24-40 inches).

The Ergo 360 though, has to be adjusted with a button outside of the baby carrier.

Which I find a bit inconvenient, especially if you have a fussy baby who can’t wait to get in the baby carrier and there you are, fumbling with buttons.

Shoulder straps

Both the Ergo Baby vs Baby Bjorn padded adjustable shoulder straps, making it comfortable for wearers to use.

Both can only be used in an “H” style/ rucksack.

Head Support

The Baby Bjorn has an adjustable head support or headrest with clip-in buckles, which is easier to operate, compared to Ergo Baby 360’s button adjustment.

Baby Bjorn’s headrest by the way, perfectly supports your newborn’s head while the Ergo 360 definitely needs an infant insert plus head support adjustment.

Leg padding

There are no prominent leg paddings for the Baby Bjorn but the Ergo 360 has a thick, structured leg padding to provide some comfort to your little one.

Both the Ergo baby vs Baby Bjorn baby carrier have a mixed review though, when it comes to the leg area of the baby carrier.

Some parents complained about their babies’ legs getting pinched or would have marks from both baby carriers.

Others find the mesh material uncomfortable for their babies.

Most are happy with both baby carriers so you really need to test out these products for a week or so, with your baby.

Storage

Both the Baby Bjorn vs Ergobaby don’t have a small pouch or pocket.

Which I kinda find ridiculous, as a pocket would have been a must-have for baby wearers.

Interestingly though, some parents said that there are homemade pockets made for Ergo in Etsy so that’s quite brilliant!

You can check that homemade pocket here. And there’s apparently, a universal pocket for different types of baby carriers, including a Baby Bjorn.

Design

Both the Ergo baby vs Baby Bjorn baby carrier have pretty much a simple yet classic colors and designs.

If you have a partner who’s not into colorful or flamboyant patterns, then they’d really appreciate wearing either a Baby Bjorn or Ergo 360.

Maintenance

Both the Ergo baby vs Baby Bjorn baby carrier are machine washable and because they’re both mesh, they can dry quicker than expected.

Just don’t use a fabric softener as that might affect the quality of the mesh material.

Price

Both the Ergo baby vs Baby Bjorn baby carrier are quite expensive baby carriers so you must really allot some budget for them.

Which is Better – Ergo Baby or Baby Bjorn?

Personally, I find the Ergobaby better than the Baby Bjorn as one can get a bit of mileage out of the Ergo as you can use it until toddlerhood or for a heavier baby. It also has lumbar support and it has a lifetime warranty.

Those 3 features are mainly a priority for me when choosing a baby carrier.

Plus it has a privacy hood which is great to use, especially when it’s too bright and my baby wants to sleep.

The Baby Bjorn on the other hand, seems like an excellent choice if you don’t like using an infant insert for your baby.

I highly recommend you try them thoroughly and see which one is the better baby carrier – the Baby Bjorn vs Ergobaby.
